Question for GreenFanMike

Hey, not particually a question for the podcast just that I'm (nosey) intrested.

The whole process of buying the rights to a film, doing whatever you need to do with it and then releasing it, how much work goes into the middle part and what exactly is involved? Is it an exspensive process? Thousands? tens of? or hundreds of thousands? (Don' t feel you need to answer that if you don't want to.)

Also, is it your full time job? How hands on are you with things such as artwork and trailer? Do you sub contract those jobs out?

Also, how cheap do the crapest of crapest genre films go for at film markets?

Any answers apretiated, or you can tell me to mind my own business.

I cut the trailers and some of the extras for the DVDs. I did the artwork for NIAC (which is why it looks a bit ropey) since then I have a designer working with me to create the artwork and menus on the future releases. I pay someone to author the DVDs - which is all the technical stuff of making a dvd work...and work well. I have a friend who operates the website. The cost of film rights varies depending on the company selling them and the age and rarity of the film. For example if you go to Celestial they insist that you purchase 10 movies at a time.

the guy you've got is doing great work. Capturing everything without altering it, and getting fantastic looking shots. Rarescope do that too, but the artwork's always the same white background. I'll no longer be a "lazy bastard" once the DVD is reissued with that cover .

You got Celestial or Fortune Star in mind ? HKL's now gone and I think their (possibly) 'one-region' contract (no-one else in the country has licensed stuff from them) is finished. Celestial has a 'multi-region' contract as evidenced by the 4 US distributors it would seem. Would be cool to have our own man getting all the basics right (including flawless cover, original English dub and the likes) then heading out for more if your budget allows it.

I know Celestial haven't done that well with Siren and that, but who knows if you can work you're magic with it ?

Will future titles be anamorphic if your source is?
